Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil In Skincare

Well, guess what?! I was going to write about our top five favourite essential oils, but when I looked at it more, I realized that I could make a whole blog post discussing one essential oil, the one that we use the most in our products. It is one that is talked about all the time, used by almost every skincare formulator, and one that you can typically find in any of your favourite skincare products. It has a gentle, lovely floral scent, and yes, it is lavender essential oil.

"Wait," you say, "you just said it's talked about all the time. Why would we discuss it again?"

You have a valid point. It wouldn't necessarily need to be talked about again, but I believe when something becomes very common, and very easily accessible, we quickly forget its true value. I intend this blog post to simply refresh us and remind us of the power and versatility contained in this one essential oil.

The All-in-One Oil

Who doesn't love finding a good product that covers at least three different needs, but is compacted into one formulation, or even better one essential oil! That's lavender essential oil for you! It is used in hair care, facial care, skin care, aromatherapy, and so much more!

-Studies show that it can reduce inflammation which makes it a choice product when treating skin conditions like dermatitis or eczema.

-Used in aromatherapy as an anti-stress treatment.

-Known to have wound healing properties because it stimulates the activity of proteins involved in rebuilding skin tissue.

-Antimocrobial and antioxidant characteristics make it ideal for hair and skin care. When used in hair care daily it is known to reduce hair loss, and when used in skin and facial care it can aid in treating acne, age spots, allergic reactions, and even canker sores.

Okay. Enough science. It's a great product! We've gained a full understanding of that. It spans so many categories of health needs, we could probably keep one bottle of lavender essential oil in our medicine cabinet, and solve all of life's problems with it. Never mind actually, it doesn't cover that many needs! Wink!

Lavender Oil in Haircare

Hair loss, dandruff, itchy scalp, dull, dry strands of hair, split ends, the list could go on. You know about all that stuff. First up, let's be honest, we're not going to be able to create a product or find an essential oil that will fix all those problems and route them for life. Why? Simply because we live in a very imperfect world. Next to that, applying something topically will never truly heal the root of the problem. We can soothe the discomfort, or cover up our problem in some form or fashion, but until we've found a way to heal from the inside, we'll never fix the problem. Now hold on, don't leave this page yet. I have good news for you.

I am going to take the liberty to assume that if you are here looking for good skincare, you already knew what I just told you, and if you didn't you're obviously interested in learning more about it. So, I wouldn't have needed to say it really, but I just wanted to clarify that I cannot sit here and promise you a life-long fix-all product. (I reallly wish I could, but unfortunately....) The good news is, you're on the right track. Don't give up on that healthy hair and skin care. While healing does happen from the inside, putting chemicals, aka cheap haircare and skincare, all over your hair and skin will in the long run, damage them. And don't think the chemicals stop at the outer layer of skin. They know exactly how to penetrate all the way through your hair and skin, and go directly into your bloodstream. Long story short, good skincare is the way to go, and you are already making wise choices for you.

Oops, I fear may have wandered off topic. We were talking about the benefits of lavender oil in haircare. I'll list a few of the benefits here, and expand a little on each one. Then we'll move on to lavender oil in skincare.

-Prevents dandruff: The antibacterial properties of lavender oil are known to aid in wound healing, and therefore can be used as a healing and prevention treatment for dealing with dandruff.

-Stimulates hair growth: Lavender oil helps to prevent hair loss, stimulates blood flow to hair follicles, tames frizz, and conditions hair.

-Relieves skin inflammation: The antibacterial and antimicrobial properties of lavender oil can be used to treat scalp infections, and heal scalp itchiness and dryness.

-Strengthens and improves hair health: Lavender oil has deep hydrating properties, and when used in hair care it replenishes your hair's moisture needs, and restores its health and elasticity. It also adds a protective layer to your hair that prevents breakage.

Lavender Oil in Body Lotion & Skincare

The lavender body lotion is one of my favourite products because during the winter, the cold weather really dries out my skin, especially my hands. That particular condition, other rashes, and excema can be extremely uncomfortable. And besides that, what wouldn't we all do for smooth, soft, beautiful skin. The lavender oil has a very calming scent, and combined with the goat's milk and other ingredients in our formulation, it soothes, softens, heals, and protects your skin. Lavender oil is noted for its deeply hydrating properties, and therefore, it has the power to route that dry, flaky skin. Its wound healing and antibacterial properties can heal eczema and other skin rashes.

Next, we have this beautiful soap bar! Again, it is scented with lavender essential oil. Paired with the goat's milk, castor oil, and other ingredients, it will replenish and revive that outer layer of skin, while the castor oil draws all the extra goodness below the surface, creating a deep moisturizing and healing effect.

A quick tip for extra moisture and cleansing, use the soap bar and then exfoliate with our Lavender Shower Scrub. They are absolutely loved by our customers, and I can fully guarantee you soft, glowing skin! It is the BEST feeling!

The lavender body products are totally ideal if you're headed for a relaxing bath, and need soothing body care. It becomes aromatherapy right in your skincare!

And finally, the ultimate moral of the story, take good care of your skin. Whether you choose to use our products or find other skincare, whether or not it's made with lavender essential oil, just take good care of it. Remember, your skin is the biggest organ of your body, and it is the one that is there to protect all the other organs inside your body. Your skin and hair are very important parts of you, and you need to take care of you!
